Intersex Fish

The government reported more findings from a study of intersex fish. These fish are male and have been “feminized” and carry eggs within their sexual organs. This study directly links women’s birth control pills and other unnamed “hormonal treatments.” The damage is generally limited to mostly black bass but the study found evidence of genetic damage in fish in nine river basins which covered 70% of the country. A report last year downplayed the birth control pill angle but the evidence must be so strong that it cannot be denied and I find it rather telling that the article notes the government stopped funding research in 2004!! It is amazing to think that we treat fertility as some kind of medical condition which must be “treated” as if it were a disease and now it appears that we have poisoned our water system with enough manufactured hormones going through the systems of fertility phobic women to damage fish!
