Senator Barack Obama was elected 44th President of the Unites States of America on Tuesday. The outpouring of "emotional" support and joy was stunning as if people never thought a black person could be elected President, some commentators likening slavery to our "original sin". Personally, I see this as another sign of the strength of the American dream and ultimately our country. What other western democratic country can boast the same? England? France? Germany? Italy? None can. At present only America offers its sons and daughters access to all levels of society be it social, economic or political, all they need is a dream and the willingness to work hard.
