Through out history leaders have risen up to guide people through difficult and perilous times and I believe President George W. Bush is another in a long line of men who have answered the call to provide strong, moral leadership in a crisis. I also believe that his being in the right place at the right time can only be described as an accident to those without faith. The contested election between Pres. Bush and Al Gore was decided on 2 key dates; December 8, The Feast of the Immaculate Conception was the day Florida Judges Terry Lewis and Nikki Carr refused to throw out any of the 25,000 absentee ballots challenged by the Gore campaign in the Martin and Seminole counties and December 12, the newly assigned Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe saw The Florida Legislature approve the 25 electors pledged to Bush, the Florida Supreme Court upheld the decisions of Judges Lewis and Carr and in a lighting-like strike the Supreme Court of the United States ruled the Florida recounts unconstitutional. The legal wrangling was ended and the election of 2000 was complete on the feast day of the new Patroness of the Americas. We have also benefited from Pres. Bush’s choice of Dick Cheney as running mate. VP Cheney had served as Secretary of Defense under Pres. Bush’s father and had stated many times that he served because he was asked and had no personal ambition to higher office. The fact the President’s VP would not seek the presidency means they were free to prosecute this war without political concerns that would burden his potential presidential candidacy. And while President Bush would surely have wanted another focus for his presidency, we the people, have benefited greatly from having the right man in the right place at the right time. Thank you for your service Mr. President.

President Bush: Right man, right place, right time.
