Sunday Funnies

We watched Brian Regan's "I walked on the moon" DVD last night with the kids and found ourselves laughing out load! An entire hour of real comedy with swearing or jokes about bodily functions, sex, race, physical characteristics or the like. He brings a wonderful vision and insight of the world and adds a touch of physical imagery really present the whole comedic package. We laughed with him not at him or through some nervous compunction intended to cover up for our minds harboring some fleeting embarrassing thought before we threw it out from whence it came. Does anyone remember Steve Martin on The Tonight Show before he was "famous" or Martin Mull, Steven Wright or George Carlin before "The Seven Words You Can't Say on TV". To find and mine the human experience and our world for comedic gems that brings tears to your eyes from laughing yourself silly is a gift, a unique, human gift that adds years to our lives. Reportedly, the last words of Sir Donald Wolfit, British actor and director, were "Dying is easy, comedy is hard." Should you find yourself perusing the Comedy section at the video store do not shy away from Regan, he nails the genre with this bit.
