Unplugged

I took Jason and Alex camping last weekend. The first weekend in June has been a Father Son camp out for the past 4 years or so. We have been going to Camp Manitou-lin with other fathers and sons from the Holy Rosary Home School group but this year we wanted to try "real" camping in tents and we went to Sleepy Hollow State Park some 20-25 miles NE of Lansing. They both must have said thank you 3 or 4 times as we setting up camp. Music to my ears. No phones, texting, iPods, radios, CD's, DVD's noise makers of any type. We went fishing and then swimming and then fishing and then swimming ad infinitum until there wasn't enough light to do either. We caught in excess of 4-50 bluegill & sunfish with a few bass thrown in and what was probably a pike took a Little Cleo painted white with pink triangles offered by Alex. His 6lb. line was no match for the beast but we did get to see it before it snapped the line and it looked to be somewhere between 24" - 30". We were up early on Sunday to fish again before heading to Jason's soccer game and onward to Mass at St. Barbara at 6:00pm. We squeezed every ounce of restorative juice from God's world in an all too short weekend. Can't wait to reload and do it again.
