Let's see, a teacher allows a teddy bear to be given the name Muhammed by her students, is arrested and subsequently convicted of "insulting the faith of Muslims", given a sentence of 15 days in jail, reduced from six months, a fine and the ever popular 40 lashes and the result is people take to the streets demanding her death! How do we take seriously a society whose citizens, as they espouse their religious beliefs, demand death for such an "infraction"? Where do we seat them at the table of civilized nations? Fortunately Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir exhibited some all to uncommon common sense and pardoned Ms. Gillian Gibbons and spared his country and religion further embarrassment.
