Pundit wannabe's

I was listening to an afternoon talk radio show recently and the host was ruminating about a survey which indicated that 50 -55% of people believe that God was mentioned in our Constitution. This talk show host has won numerous awards for his sports journalism work, written best selling books and plays which have seen the stage. He was incredulous that these people were so ignorant and or ill informed as to believe that God might actually be "in" our Constitution, "why you would almost think they would believe that women and blacks don't have equal rights under the Constitution". Well, unfortunately, neither women nor African Americans had full rights under the Constitution, it took the 19th Amendment to guarantee equal suffrage for women and the 14th and 15th Amendments to guarantee rights blacks. Hopefully this wannabe pundit corrected himself after the commercial break but the broader question is why so many people believe that excellence in one medium or field translates into success in another.
