Mayor Kilpatrick had a few comments in his last days in office which require comment.
“I know that supporting me has not always been easy, but it has not been boring either."
Dear Mr. Mayor should I feel the need for excite I will generally attend some sporting event, movie and maybe do something slightly dangerous or foolish. I do not look to elected officials for excite. I want consistent, dependably boring people whose focus is on their job. Your lack of maturity after all you've put the City through is pathetic.
Cockrel inherits a city "in much better shape than the city I inherited seven years ago.”
I cannot imagine by what standard you make this claim. 85% of all kids born in Detroit are born into single parent households, 25% of Detroit students graduate high school, the Public Schools have a $400 million deficit, the City's deficit is $150 million and the City spurned the $200 million GIFT put forth by Richard Thompson to finance charter schools.
"Y'all done set me up for a comeback"
This is priceless. 38 years old, mayor, lawyer, public school teacher, son of a US Congresswoman and still cannot construct a meaningful sentence in English. Playing to your "base", as if there was a racial angle to your lies is shameful, shallow and belies all the grace imbued by God. Should you wish to politically resurrect your career let me offer a bit of advice. Apologize to your family in private, the City in public, profusely and with sincerity and perform numerous acts of penance with humble grace outside the limelight.
