Ouch!

The PGA Championship is being held this week at Oakland Hills Country Club. The tournament, the last major of the year, draws players, journalists and corporate sponsors who lavish dollars on advertising, promotions and the like. This area, suffering economically like few others with the ailing auto manufacturers and cities reeling from the reduced tax dollars generated by the industry, should be reveling in this upbeat, positive attention. Unfortunately, the mayor of the City of Detroit, Kwame Kilpatrick, was released from jail this morning having spent the night for violating his bond only to be charged by the State Attorney General with two felonies for an alleged assault on an officer of the law. All this having transpired after the text messaging scandal which resulted from the mayor's lying under oath. Is there a grownup available to speak with the mayor? Someone who might be able to convince him that men must do what is required even if they find it personally uncomfortable. That service is about sacrifice and putting yourself after others. Anyone? Please!
